Tree Topping
The tree-topping ceremony follows from an old pagan ritual to honor/appease tree gods for providing the building material for construction. The tradition made its way to America via European immigrants. On June 12, 2008, the RTHS Storage Barn was officially topped out. A Buckeye Tree and an American Flag, were hoisted to the very top of the trusses, just put in place.

Spring has arrived and so has Dick Barth with his crew. They are beginning construction of the new RTHS Storage Barn. The metal structure will be 48 feet long and 38 feet wide with a gambrel roof, representating the look of an early 1900's barn.

The purpose of the Storage Barn is to house our growing collection of historical items and the balance of the memorabilia, still in our former Museum, above Connell Hardware. It will also give the society the opportunity to rotate our educational and historical displays, in the Heritage Center Museum, adjacent to the barn.

Materials Needed:
• 25-30 yards of concrete
• Electrical supplies and lights
• 2x4x10' studs for interior walls
• 3/4 OSB Tongue & Grove Sheeting
• 1/2 OSB Sheeting
• Gravel and Stone for Base of Floor.

Donations towards the construction of the new facility are still being accepted. Foreman Barth is also looking for volunteers to help with the construction, including all building trades and general labor. Call Dick at 614.327.8162 and ask, "What can i do?"

To send in a donation, make your check out to the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society and mail it to:
