Memorial Day 2010
About twenty-five visitors attended RTHS’s Memorial Day program at the City Building on May 31.
President Mark Myers welcomed the crowd, and introduced honored guests Mayor Brad McCloud, city councilmen Barth Cotner and Chris Long and Marian Harris, 19th Ohio House District Representative.

VFW Post 9473 provided a moving ceremony with a twenty-one gun salute and playing of taps in honor of our fallen heroes.  A wreath was then placed on the Memorial Rock by member John Vingle.

President Myers then read a poem written by Trustee Neal Piek’s great grandfather, a Civil War veteran, for Memorial Day in the early 1930’s.  He also called attention to the city’s new wall mural, opposite Connell’s, which features five soldiers, in the upper left, four of whom were lost in battle.

Stated aims of the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society are to discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge of the history of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and surrounding areas; and to illuminate past lives, events and activities.
